Hello. I'm Mark the Upholsterer.

I discovered upholstery in 1999 when I found an abandoned chair in the street and decided to roll my sleeves up and have a go at restoring it to its former glory.

Things progressed from taking the chair apart that evening to night classes at Hackney College and then to a series of City & Guilds courses in traditional and modern upholstery and soft furnishings at Guildhall University, London. I finally completed my training by working at two local upholstery firms putting into practice what I had learnt.

Today I provide a full upholstery and soft-furnishing service from my workshop in Finsbury Park, North London. Along with carrying out private commissions, I work with interior designers and styling editors for leading interior magazines.

Recent commission

A unique sofa I recently restored. The piece was a much-loved family heirloom. It had been made for the clients' great grandmother in the 1920's. The entire seat was rebuilt using new springs.
